‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ Finds Its Dr. McCoy and Sulu

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has wrapped production in its fifth and final season. While fans eagerly await the fourth and fifth seasons to arrive on Paramount+, many have wondered if and when Dr. McCoy and Sulu would appear. As the series progresses, more characters from Star Trek: The Original Series have been appearing. Spock, Nurse Chapel, Scotty, and James T. Kirk are among the characters from The Original Series who have already appeared on Strange New Worlds.

This week, Star Trek announced who would be portraying Dr. McCoy and Sulu. When these two characters would appear has also been announced. On social media, it was revealed that Leonard “Bones” McCoy would be portrayed by Thomas Jane. Hikaru Sulu will be played by Kai Murakami. Both will be appearing in the final episode of the final season (Season 5) of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

Thomas Jane is an American actor who has appeared in films like Boogie NightsDeep Blue SeaThe Punisher, and The Mist. He’s also appeared in TV shows including HungThe Expanse, and Troppo. This will be the television debut for Kai Murakami. Previously, he has performed with the Royal Shakespeare Company. He also has performed motion capture for video games like Assassin’s Creed and Rise of the Ronin.

Currently, the premiere dates for Season 4 and Season 5 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds have not been announced.
