More new walls have appeared in the future home of Porto’s Bakery and Cafe in the Downtown Disney District at the Disneyland Resort. These new walls showcase the history of Porto’s and act as an introduction to the future restaurant for Disney fans. Along with showcasing the history and legacy of Porto’s, there is also a photo of presumably the current family with a photo of the founders, food, and more!
Daps Magic team member Steven stopped by the Disneyland Resort on his birthday (Today! Happy Birthday, Steven!) and took some photos of the new walls and the story they tell. They surround the area that will be the future building and home of this new dining destination. Take a look at these photos here:

According to the graphics on these walls, here is the story of Porto’s Bakery and Cafe through the years:
- 1960 – Rosa Porto began baking out of her home in Cuba.
- 1976 – After coming to the U.S. and outgrowing their home kitchen, the Porto’s open their first bakery in Silver Lake, CA.
- 1980 – The family outgrows their first location and moves Porto’s Baker to Glendale, CA.
- 2006 – The bakery continues to grow and the family decides to open a second location in Burbank, CA.

- 2019 – Porto’s opens in West Covina, CA.
- 2022 – Porto’s opens in Northridge, CA.
- Coming Soon – Porto’s in Anaheim, CA.
Earlier this week, new concept art was released for Porto’s in Downtown Disney District as construction officially began. This marks a major step forward since this location was announced during the D23 Expo’s parks and resorts panel in 2022. Previously, the location that will be the home to Porto’s was inhabited by the La Brea Bakery before being taken over by the Earl of Sandwich. This Earl of Sandwich recently closed, and the restaurant will soon have a permanent home in the west end of the Downtown Disney District. This location will include a new Gordon Ramsay Gastropub on its second floor. The first floor will include the traditional quick-service Earl of Sandwich that Disney fans know and love.
At this point, an opening date for Porto’s has not been announced. Daps Magic will continue to monitor and share the progress of this new location and provide updates on an opening date when the news becomes available.
