Zootopia 2 has had a record-setting opening weekend. The film has brought in a phenomenal $556 million during its 5-day opening weekend. This sees it flying past The Super Mario Bros. Movie and its $378 million record. Zootopia 2 now has the largest extended opening weekend ever for an animated film. In North America, the film earned $156 million over the course of its 5-day launch. This brings it in second after Moana 2 for the Thanksgiving weekend records. Moana 2 earned $225 million last year over the extended weekend.
In China, Zootopia 2 is an even bigger hit, earning $272 million. The film had the highest single-day total at the box office ever for a Hollywood film, surpassing Avengers: Endgame, and the second highest of all films behind Detective Chinatown 3. It did this with a $104 million haul on Saturday. For China alone, the film is now tracking for a run that could reach or pass $500 million. If it does really well, it could end up passing Endgame as the highest-grossing Hollywood film at the Chinese box office. It would need to surpass $632 million to do this.

Internationally, including the Chinese receipts, the film has earned $400 million over the course of the extended weekend. Combining this with the $156 million earnings in North America and Zootopia 2 is already at $556 million globally.
The original Zootopia opened in March 2016 and earned $75 million during its opening weekend box office. It went on to earn $341 million domestically, and globally it earned $1.02 billion. Over the traditional weekend alone, Zootopia 2 brought in $96.8 million. At this point, it looks like Disney has a lot to be thankful for as it joins a solid year at the box office for the House of Mouse. This includes the live-action Lilo & Stitch and the upcoming Avatar: Fire & Ash.
