Happy November, everyone! Throughout November, Daps Magic will be celebrating Thanksgiving along with all of its normal coverage of Disney and positive stuff. Each day, there will be a new thing that one of the Daps Magic team is thankful for. This could range from simple things like a churro in the park to bigger picture things with deep thoughts. What will be consistent is that each day, there will be something new that someone is thankful for throughout the month. We hope that this will be a good exercise for the writers and also something to bring joy to the readers!
To start things off, I thought it would only be appropriate to show gratitude for something foundational at Daps Magic. This is the community. Since day one in 2004, Daps Magic has always been about community and relationships. Some of those relationships that started in 2004 continue to this day (I was messaging with one of two people who were a part of the original community of three in 2004 last night!). This has been one of the most fulfilling things that has come out of building Daps Magic over the course of the last 21 years.
The community isn’t about membership or responsibilities. What it is about is the relationships through the years that have made the world a better place, built people up, shared a love of Disney and positive stuff, and also continued the mission to make the world a kinder place. This community is made up of people who read and interact with our content, join us when we broadcast Geeks Corner live each week, meet people in the parks, interact on social media, walk in the CHOC Walk together, cast members we come in contact with, other members of the media that we meet up with, or media representatives from Disney and other companies that we work with. One of the things I’ve become very cognizant of is how many people we have in our community that has only continued to grow through the years.
This community has continued to grow through the years. As I sit here at Starbucks today thinking about this, I can’t help but feel so much gratitude at the number of amazing people that we get to interact with. They are people from around the world with whom lifelong friendships have been created. We go on adventures together and celebrate our wins, and comfort each other during the hard times. Sadly, sometimes we have had to mourn when people in this community have passed. However, I would much rather have people to mourn than the alternative.
As we start this month of Thanksgiving off, I hope we can take a few minutes each day to slow down, look around, and consider what we are thankful for. I hope this is an adventure that you will join us in this month.
