The Carousel of Progress has always been one of my favorite attractions at Magic Kingdom. For today’s A Month of Thanksgiving, this is what I’m thankful for. I love the vibes of this attraction and the nostalgia it evokes while watching it. It’s also impossible not to love It’s A Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow. The attraction and theater may be a bit dated, but it is still beloved and will soon be getting some love.

As I write my thoughts, I realize another reason I am thankful for this attraction is that it has an optimistic view of what the future could be. So often, the future is looked at with dread or pessimism. In this case, the Carousel of Progress provides a message that the future can be better with the progress of technology and ideas. I would like to think this is possible as well. This applies to the future updates for the attraction and the world in general. Hopefully, new ideas and technology will lead to a “great big beautiful tomorrow” for this attraction and also the world.

As we look to the future of the attraction, there are changes on the horizon. Walt Disney in Audio-Animatronic form will be joining the attraction. It would stand to reason that the rest of the attraction will also get some love. As these changes come, hopefully, the foundational principles of this attraction remain the same. If this is done right, it could introduce this beloved attraction to generations of new fans. It also becomes a way to introduce them to Walt Disney himself.
