Tron: Ares is now in theaters. This time, instead of going to the Grid, the program named Ares leaves the Grid and comes to the physical world. After previews on Wednesday and Thursday, along with its opening day on Friday, the film brought in $14.3 million. While this is the top spot at the weekend’s box office, it isn’t as strong an opening as was initially projected.
The third Tron film was initially projected to reach around $45 million over the course of its opening weekend. At this point, it is tracking behind its predecessor Tron: Legacy, and its $44 million opening weekend. At this point, Legacy had earned $17.5 million. The reviews for this film were mixed from critics. Fans have given it a B+ Cinema Score.
