As the final episode of season 5 of Only Murders in the Building was released, the future of the show has been announced. In a post on social media, the sixth season of the Hulu original series was announced. Judging by the post, it appears that Charles-Haden Savage (Steve Martin), Oliver Putnam (Martin Short), and Mabel Mora (Selena Gomez) could be heading to London!
As has become a bit of a tradition with the series, the sixth season was set up with the conclusion of the fifth season. As the trio of podcasting sleuths head to London, it won’t be the first time that the series has left New York City. Previously, Los Angeles served as a setting for one of the storylines. The series has a plethora of special guests. With the show moving to London, it opens up the door to a whole new collection of British talent. In season five, the following actors were a part of the cast:
- Renee Zellweger
- Steve Martin
- Martin Short
- Selena Gomez
- Michael Cyril Creighton
- Meryl Streep
- Bobby Cannavale
- Teddy Coluca
- Beanie Feldstein
- Jermaine Fowler
- Keegan-Michael Key
- Richard Kind
- Nathan Lane
- Tea Leoni
- Logan Lerman
- Da’Vine Joy Randolph
- Christoph Waltz
- Dianne Wiest
Previous guests included Eugene Levy, Zach Galifianakis, Eva Longoria, Molly Shannon, Kumail Nanjiani, and Melissa McCarthy, to name a few.
Only Murders in the Building comes from the creative minds of co-creators and writers Steve Martin and John Hoffman. Martin and Hoffman executive produce along with Martin Short, Selena Gomez, Dan Fogelman, and Jess Rosenthal. The series is produced by 20th Television, a part of Disney Television Studios.
At this time, there are no details about the production or release timeline for the sixth season. It seems the trend, however, is for new seasons to arrive in the summer or early fall. The most common month for a new season’s release is August.
What do you think of this series getting a sixth season? Are you excited to see more adventures with Charles, Olliver, and Mabel?
