Guests who are experiencing Frozen Ever After get to experience the story of Frozen when they cruise through this Norway Pavilion attraction at EPCOT. For almost a decade, they have been getting to see Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, Sven, and even snowgies come to life in Audio-Animatronic form in this popular attraction. Soon, guests will get to see an enhanced version of the attraction when updated Audio-Animatronics are added to the attraction.

From EPCOT to the World
The updates will make this attraction, once more, cutting-edge. When it opened in 2016, this attraction wasn’t just the first Frozen attraction. It was also the first to have all-electric Audio-Animatronics figures. It was also the first to combine electric motors and 3D printing.
One of the most complicated parts of this attraction turned out to be Elsa’s wrist. To make her magical, ice-forming hand gestures look fluid and real, as fans were used to seeing in the movie, Imagineers had to figure out how to have the space to run cables and motors down her arms and hands. They had to figure out how big Elsa’s wrist needed to be and then scaled everything else in the attraction to match.
Walt Disney Imagineering has continued to build on that technology. This has led to the update of the technology of all-electric motors, 3D printing, and scaling for all the new figures that have been produced. This includes Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland, Rapunzel’s Lantern Festival at Tokyo DisneySea, and the World of Frozen at Hong Kong Disneyland.

New Year, New Audio-Animatronics
As the technology continues to progress, these investments will return to where it all started at EPCOT. The Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff Audio-Animatronic figures will be receiving new updates in the new year. These enhanced figures will take inspiration from the advancements seen in the figures at World of Frozen in Hong Kong Disneyland. This will mean the figures will see their faces updated for guests experiencing Frozen Ever After at Walt Disney World Resort.
Disney shared photos of the figures from Hong Kong Disneyland to show what the updated figures at EPCOT will look like. Here is a look at Frozen Ever After as it exists in its current form:
The version of Frozen Ever After called Anna and Elsa’s Frozen Journey at Tokyo DisneySea has updated Audio-Animatronics as well. They can be seen here:
