Disney Destiny Conveyance Sees Next Disney Cruise Line Ship Departing Germany

The Disney Destiny is in the midst of yet another major milestone in its trek to join the Disney Cruise Line fleet. After approximately two years of construction at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, it began its conveyance (the process of transporting a ship to open water for the first time). A big part of the conveyance took place at night. Disney Cruise Line shared photos of the process.

The milestone of conveyance was celebrated with fireworks. The two tugs that would help the Disney Destiny back away from the shipyard were on hand for the celebratory moment.

As the sun began to rise, the Disney Destiny was still making its way 20 miles down the Ems River through a series of locks and channels. The final destination is the shores of Eemshaven, Netherlands.

In the coming weeks, the ship will be undergoing a series of sea trials (tests) to ensure that it is ready to embark on its two-week transatlantic voyage and ultimately to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, for its maiden voyage.

The theme of this new ship is heroes and villains. When guests board her, they will find themselves in the Grand Hall with a statue of the Black Panther. They may also encounter some of their favorite heroes and villains while aboard the ship. There will also be some incredible entertainment, culinary offerings and experiences, and more! This includes the debut aboard the Disney Cruise Line of the Broadway-style show Disney Hercules.

The Disney Destiny will take guests on its maiden voyage on November 20, 2025. This cruise will depart from Fort Lauderdale. The ship will visit Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point and Disney Castaway Cay before returning to Fort Lauderdale. It will then spend its inaugural season going on four and five-night cruises in the Bahamas and Caribbean. For more information about the ship’s itineraries, please visit DisneyCruise.com.
