The Disney Cruise Line is leaving Australia and New Zealand after the upcoming 2025-2026 season. On February 2, 2026, the Disney Wonder will depart from the area. The news had been rumored for some time, as cruise watchers noticed that there were no Disney ships on port schedules for the 2026-2027 season. The news was confirmed with a post on social media:
At this point, what is known is that Disney Cruise Line is leaving Australia and New Zealand. It is unknown what Disney Cruise Line has planned for that region in the future.
The final cruise for the Disney Wonder in Australia will be from Sydney on a cruise to nowhere that departs on January 30, 2026. This will be followed by a 14-day cruise from Sydney to Honolulu, Hawaii, that departs on February 2, 2026.
The Disney Cruise Line first debuted Down Under in 2023. At the time, the Disney Wonder entered Australian waters with the “Disney Magic at Sea” cruise. Itineraries for the final season Down Under include voyages ranging from 3-10 days. They depart from Melbourne, Auckland, and Sydney. Some of these cruises have port stops, and others are trips to nowhere.
While the Disney Cruise Line will not be returning to the waters around Australia for the 2026-2027 season, Disney is leaving the door open for the future. The post announcing the departure says, “It’s a fond farewell for now.” Disney has also said that Australia and New Zealand ‘remain on our list of future considerations.’
In the meantime, the new Disney Adventure will be departing from Singapore for the next five years after it sets sail on its maiden voyage in December. The Disney Cruise Line has additional ships joining its fleet in the coming years. This includes the Disney Destiny, which will be making its maiden voyage in November 2020. It is unknown where these ships will depart from at this point.
