On this day in 1955, actor, filmmaker, and musician Billy Bob Thornton was born. For Disney’s Miramax, he wrote and starred in ‘Sling Blade,’ for which he won an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay and was nominated for Best Actor. Thornton’s Disney-related credits also include ‘Armageddon,’ ‘The Alamo,’ ‘Bad Santa,’ and Studio Ghibli’s ‘Princess Mononoke.’ He has received multiple awards and recognitions, including a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. [70 years ago in 2025]
