Jon Favreau’s Oswald the Lucky Rabbit has found three of its leads for the Disney+ series. Ravi Cabot-Conyers (Skeleton Crew, Encanto), Mykal-Michelle Harris (Raven’s Home, Mixed-ish), and Ryder Allen (The Penguin, Palmer) have joined the series.
Cabot-Conyers will reportedly play Jake. He is a hardworking middle school student with a big heart. Harris is set to play Jen. She is an artistic middle schooler who is always ahead of what’s going on. Finally, Allen will portray Taylor, also a middle schooler who is more on the cautious side but also doesn’t turn down friends.

Oswald the Lucky Rabbit was created by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks in 1927, and Universal Pictures distributed the shorts. He starred in many shorts between 1927 and 1938. However, after Disney lost control of the character, Mickey Mouse was created in 1928. As for Oswald, he eventually fell into obscurity at Universal Pictures. That is, until Bob Iger traded Al Michaels for the trademark of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, and he returned to Disney in 2006. Since then, Oswald has appeared in some video games, some shorts, and even in Disney Parks. In 2022, Disney created an original short with him.
Jon Favreau is working on creating a series based on Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. The new series would use both live-action and photorealistic animation, both of which Favreau has plenty of experience with, to bring the character and the world around him to life. Favreau has a long history with Disney that has him working in many different parts of the company. He directed Iron Man for Marvel Studios and has also worked on multiple other projects there. He also directed the photorealistic animated live-action version of The Lion King. Most recently, he has been working on Star Wars, most prominently on The Mandalorian.
