On this day in 1985, ‘The Black Cauldron’ was released in theaters. It was Disney’s 25th animated feature and the first to earn a PG rating. The story was adapted from Welsh mythology as interpreted in the first two ‘The Chronicles of Prydain’ novels by Lloyd Alexander. A group of lovable misfits set out to stop the evil Horned King from finding the all-powerful Cauldron and ruling the world. The film has a cult following today, although it was not a box office success. [40 years ago in 2025]
