There have been quite a few different genres explored in episodes of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. In the 4th season, this series will boldly go where no Star Trek series has before. It will go into the world of puppets! At San Diego Comic-Con it was revealed that an episode of Strange New Worlds will utilize puppets created by The Jim Henson Company. It is also being directed by Jordan Canning (Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock). This reveal came as the third season of the series is getting underway.
This surprising reveal was made during the Star Trek universe presentation in Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con. The panel was moderated by Star Trek legend Robert Picardo. The Star Trek: Strange New Worlds portion of the panel included a conversation with co-showrunners and executive producers Akiva Goldsman and Henry Alonso Myers, executive producer Alex Kurtzman, and cast members Rebecca Romijn, Ethan Peck, Jess Bush, Christina Chong, and Paul Wesley.
Along with getting to see a first look at Captain Pike as a puppet, the audience in Hall H received a surprise advance screening of the series’ upcoming new episode, A Space Adventure Hour. This comes ahead of the episode’s debut on Thursday, July 31st on Paramount+ in the United States. This episode is directed by Jonathan Frakes and incorporates a murder mystery theme. The description of the episode is as follows:
When La’An (Chong) tests a prototype holodeck with a fictional case only she can solve, the consequences of failure get greater and greater, with the Enterprise hanging in the balance.

In celebration of A Space Adventure Hour, this episode will be available to stream for free starting on Thursday, July 31st, through Wednesday, August 6th, on Pluto TV, Paramount+ channels on Amazon, Apple, and Roku, along with the Free Content Hub on Paramount+ and the Paramount+ YouTube Channel.

Currently, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is in the middle of airing its third season. It debuted with two episodes on July 17, 2025. Each week, another episode is released on Thursday. The final episode of this season will be released on September 11, 2025. The 4th season of Strange New Worlds has wrapped already, with the fifth and final season announced.
