Only Murders in the Building has finished filming its fifth season. Today, the debut date for this season was revealed. The fifth season will be arriving on Hulu on September 9, 2025. The following post was shared on social media, making the announcement:
The announcement was made by series stars Steve Martin, Selena Gomez, and Martin Short. They will be joined this season by returning cast members, including Meryl Streep as Loretta Durkin. Tea Leoni will also be returning this season as Sofia Caccimelio after appearing at the end of the last season. There is quite a roster of new cast members joining the show as well. This includes Logan Lerman, Renée Zellweger, Christoph Waltz, Keegan-Michael Key, Jermaine Fowler, and Beanie Feldstein. Michael Cyril Creighton as Howard, Jackie Hoffman as Um, and Da’Vine Joy Randolph as Detective Donna Williams will also be returning to roles they have been in since the first season.

Only Murders in the Building comes from the creative minds of co-creators and writers Steve Martin and John Hoffman. Martin and Hoffman executive produce along with Martin Short, Selena Gomez, Dan Fogelman, and Jess Rosenthal. The series is produced by 20th Television, a part of Disney Television Studios.
Season Four
The fourth season of Only Murders in the Building saw the podcasting sleuths head to California to make a movie. There, they also end up investigating the murder of Sazz Pataki (Jane Lynch) who was Charles’ (Steve Martin) stunt double and friend. This led to questions about if she was the intended victim. It also led to a whole new part of the Arconia with a whole new group of inhabitants. The end of the season also ended with yet another murder at the Arconia.
During season four, the three main podcasters get Hollywood versions of themselves for their movie. The guest stars in these roles for their movie were Eugene Levy (Schitt’s Creek) as movie Charles, Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover films, Between Two Ferns) as movie Oliver, and Eva Longoria (Deadly Housewives, Flamin’ Hot) as movie Mabel. Other guest stars included Molly Shannon, Kumail Nanjiani, Melissa McCarthy, Desmin Borges, Siena Werber, Lilian Rebelo, Richard Kind, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Catherine Cohen, and Jin Ha. Meryl Streep also made her return as Oliver’s love interest, Loretta Durkin.
