In 2006, the world was introduced to Night at the Museum. The film starred Ben Stiller, a divorced father who gets a job as a night security guard at New York City’s American Museum of Natural History. This job turns out to be more than just wandering empty halls at night when the exhibits come to life. The film was based on the 1993 book of the same name by Milan Trenc. Now, two live-action films and an animated feature later, 20th Century Studios is looking to add to this franchise.
Deadline is reporting that 20th Century Studios is looking to reimagine Night at the Museum. 21 Laps is hard at work on this and has brought in Tripper Clancy to write the script. At this point, there are no known plot details. What is known is that this film will be in a new museum with new characters. It is also known that Shawn Levy and Dan Levine will be producing for 21 Laps, with Emily Morris overseeing the project for the company.
Levy has a long history with this franchise, having directed the three live-action films that starred Ben Stiller. Each of these films was a hit at the global box office. It is unknown who will direct the new film.
