On this day in 1900, storyboard artist, character designer, and illustrator James Bodrero was born. Born in Belgium, he moved to California in 1925. He worked for Disney Studios between 1938 and 1946, starting out with the model division and later becoming a story director and character designer. James is best known for creating the character of Dumbo, the dancing ostriches in ‘Fantasia’s “Dance of the Hours,” and Jose Carioca from ‘Saludos Amigos’ and ‘The Three Caballeros.’ [125 years ago in 2025]
