On this day in 1950, the Goofy short ‘Motor Mania’ was released. It was the first in a series of car safety cartoons featuring Goofy. In it, Goofy plays a Jekyll-and-Hyde character, polite Mr. Walker, who turns into rage-filled Mr. Wheeler when he gets behind the wheel of his car. ‘Motor Mania’ was used as an army commercial in 1955 and as a training film in some driving schools in the United States. It received the Buyer Trophy for the best film on traffic safety. [75 years ago in 2025]
