Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue!

Monsters Inc., Mike & Sully to the Rescue to Close in Early 2026

There are a lot of exciting new things coming to the Disneyland Resort in the coming years. Last year at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, it was announced that there would be a new Coco attraction that brings to life the story as seen in the film from Pixar Animation Studios. It was also announced that an area dedicated to the world of Pandora, as seen in Avatar, would be coming to the Disneyland Resort. This week, it was announced where both of these attractions would be located.

The “Avatar Experience” will be arriving in the space that is currently a part of Disney’s Hollywood Backlot at Disney California Adventure. Because of this, Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! will be closing in early 2026. The closure of this attraction comes as Walt Disney World Resort will be building a new area themed to Monsters, Inc. in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sullety to the Rescue! first opened in 2006. At this point, there are few details known about this new Avatar area and attraction. It is known that it will be inspired by Avatar: The Way of Water and include a boat ride through the world of Pandora.

The official update was provided about this change and closure:

We’re looking forward to transforming a portion of the current Hollywood Backlot area into our Avatar destination in Disney California Adventure. This project is still in the early stages of development, and additional details will be shared later, including construction timeframes.

To make way for this new experience, Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! will close in early 2026.
