On this day in 1940, the Pluto cartoon ‘Bone Trouble’ was released. When birds empty Pluto’s food dish, he steals a tasty bone from his neighbor, Butch the Bulldog. Butch chases Pluto across town and into a carnival. Pluto uses the funhouse mirrors to distract Butch and escape with his prize! ‘Bone Trouble’ was the first in the “Pluto” series and the directorial debut of Jack Kinney. Story writer Carl Barks would go on to become a popular artist and writer for Disney comics. [85 years ago in 2025]
