Epic Universe is a new major theme park opening just down the road from Walt Disney World Resort. This new park, which is a part of Universal Orlando, is being viewed as major competition to Disney by some. Others think that all ships will rise with the tourism tide in Florida. Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro is one of them. “We’re always on the offensive,” D’Amaro said. “We’re constantly investing for the long term, fortifying each one of our theme parks. … If something is built new in Central Florida, like Epic Universe … that tourist is going to have to visit the Magic Kingdom.”
Ahead of the opening day of Epic Universe, Walt Disney World Resort President Jeff Vahle took to Instagram to wish the new park good luck. On Wednesday morning, Vahle posted the following:

Epic Universe is currently holding a media event ahead of its grand opening. There will be an opening ceremony on Wednesday night. On Thursday, May 22, 2025, the new park will be open to the public. The new park has five worlds. Each world, or land, has attractions, merchandise, and food locations. The five worlds are:
Celestial Park
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic
Super Nintendo World
How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk
Dark Universe
The opening of Epic Universe comes as Disney focuses on its growth globally. There are changes, updates, and new additions currently in the works at Disney Parks and resorts around the globe. Disney also recently announced that it had entered into a deal with Miral to create a Disney theme park in Abu Dhabi.
