President Trump Discusses Disneyland Abu Dhabi and Visit From Disney’s CEO Bob Iger

While visiting Abu Dhabi this week, President Trump discussed the recent news that The Walt Disney Company and Miral will be building a Disney theme park and resort in Abu Dhabi. The announcement was made a week ago. It revealed that Miral will be building and operating this new Disneyland Abu Dhabi, and Disney will provide oversight and design from Walt Disney Imagineering.

“I see the new theme park is going to be incredible. Bob Iger was in my office the other day and he was showing it to me,” Trump said in Abu Dhabi on Friday. “It’s going to be incredible.”

The statement was made as an aside during President Trump’s visit to the Middle East, where he touted economic cooperation. It also marks an apparent reconciliation between President Trump and Disney CEO Bob Iger, who publicly criticized the President during his first term. There is at least some level of communication and interaction for Iger to have visited the President in the White House.

“Disneyland Abu Dhabi will be authentically Disney and distinctly Emirati — an oasis of extraordinary Disney entertainment at this crossroads of the world that will bring to life our timeless characters and stories in many new ways and will become a source of joy and inspiration for the people of this vast region to enjoy for generations to come,” Iger said in a statement announcing the new venture.

At this point, there is no timeline for when this new Disney park and resort will open. However, Bob Iger did say that it could take 18 months to design it and at least five years to build it. Daps Magic will continue to track the progress of this story.
