On this day in 2010, Disney’s California Adventure Park was renamed to Disney California Adventure, about nine years after it opened to the public. The new name was part of a reimagining that would span multiple years and cost $1.1 billion, almost twice the original $600 million building cost. The new theme aimed to capture the elegance and romanticism of California. Idealized historical settings replaced many of the parodied and comical takes on the state. [15 years ago in 2025]
