Tokyo Disney Resort Teases Big Changes for Adventureland at Tokyo Disneyland

There could be some fairly substantial changes coming to Tokyo Disneyland. The Oriental Land Company released a look at its long-term strategy through 2035 for Tokyo Disney Resort and beyond. This lengthy presentation looked at current plans for the Tokyo Disney Resort. This includes changes for Tokyo Disneyland, Tokyo DisneySea, its hotel businesses, and its entry into the cruise industry.

In this strategy outline, there is a piece of concept art that gives a look at Tokyo Disneyland’s Adventureland. For those who are familiar with this land, there were some noticeable changes. There also appear to be some current attractions that are no longer there. This comes as no surprise. Currently, Tokyo Disney Resort is in the process of replacing its original Space Mountain with a brand new one. This is part of a bigger transformation of Tomorrowland at Tokyo Disneyland. The new version of the attraction is scheduled to open in 2027.

The concept art shows some recognizable icons at Tokyo Disneyland. This includes New Orleans Square. However, it appears that Tokyo Disneyland’s Adventureland might be getting a Tomorrowland-like transformation. Not appearing on the concept art is the Jungle Cruise, The Enchanted Tiki Room: Stitch Presents Aloha E Komo Mai!, the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse, and the Western River Railroad. Check out the concept art here:

There are a few things to note about the concept art. First off, that’s exactly what it is. This is concept art and not a plan that has been approved. It’s an idea of what could come to Tokyo Disneyland by 2025. In the past, Tokyo Disney Resort has released concept art for things like this that haven’t come to fruition. It also may be focusing on the future and purposely ignoring some of the current offerings. For example, the Western River Railroad may not be included in this piece of art because it is out of the scope of change, so they simply didn’t put it in the picture, as only part of it would appear anyway. Thirdly, there are a lot of variables that would need to be navigated before these changes may take place.

That being said, there are some interesting things to note in this concept art. It looks like there could be a new roller coaster of some type added to the land, a boat ride, potentially a challenge trail/play area, a flying swing ride (like Silly Symphony Swings), perhaps a spinner ride, and perhaps an expansion of New Orleans Square. Take a closer look at the concept artwork, and maybe you’ll catch even more possibilities!

In the presentation from the Oriental Land Company, the thoughts behind future changes were shared. It all comes down to wanting Tokyo Disney Resort to “Provide moving experiences and surprises that cannot be found anywhere else in the world through development unique to Tokyo Disney Resort.” This is detailed with ways that this can be done, including wanting to “constantly enhance the appeal of our theme parks by redesigning attractions and entertainment programs.” The OLC also says that it wants to proactively “generate facilities and services that lead to offering new experience(s).”
