New missions will be added to Millennium Falcon: Smugglers run in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort featuring the Mandalorian and Grogu.

New Engineer Responsibilities Among New Details Revealed for Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run

Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run is getting an update in conjunction with the release of The Mandalorian & Grogu in May 2026. This update will see crews aboard the Millennium Falcon at Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts visiting new destinations and going on new missions. At Star Wars Celebration Japan, new details about this update were revealed.

Disney Experiences Panel

The news came out of a Disney Experiences panel that was hosted by Ashley Eckstein, the voice of Ahsoka Tano. Eckstein was joined by Asa Kalama and Anisha Deshmane from Walt Disney Imagineering, Michael Serna from Disney Live Entertainment, and Matt Martin from Lucasfilm. New details came out of the discussion from this panel.

First off, the new story will debut on May 22nd, 2026, at Disneyland and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This is also when The Mandalorian & Grogu arrives in theaters. It was already announced that guests would now be flying the Millennium Falcon to Tatooine, Bespin, and Endor. During the panel, it was announced that they will also be able to go to Coruscant.

A New Story

The new story for Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run will see Hondo Ohnaka discovering that there is a deal on Tatooine between former Imperial officers and pirates. This sets the stage for a high-stakes chase that spans the galaxy. The crew aboard the Millennium Falcon will team up with Mando and Grogu to pursue and claim a bounty on this new, incredible, dynamic, and galaxy-wide adventure.

A New Role for Engineers

It was also announced that the role of Engineer will be changing aboard the Millennium Falcon. Currently, this is generally recognized as the least exciting role aboard the Falcon. When the updates arrive, this could completely change. The Engineer will be tasked with interacting with and caring for Grogu. The Engineer will also be responsible for choosing the destination that the Millennium Falcon will be heading for. This will greatly increase the desirability of the Engineer role for guests.

New Concept Art

New concept art for the updated attraction was also revealed. There had been some previously released (as seen in the gallery above). The new concept art builds on what had already been shared.
