Guests visiting Disneyland Resort on Monday saw that there were quite a few new walls to be found. Along with work being done on the Disneyland Railroad and Jolly Holiday, a new section of the Main Gate had been walled off. This is part of an ongoing project that is updating the entrance gates and process for guests visiting Disneyland. When completed, this will modernize the entrance process and create a more efficient and pleasant experience for guests visiting the Disneyland Resort parks.
The turnstiles already appeared to the west of the current project at the Disneyland entrance and also across the Esplanade at Disney California Adventure. They also appeared on a much smaller scale earlier this year at Disney California Adventure as a lead-up to the upgrade. At the time, Kevin Gidden, General Manager Arrival Experience said, “We continue to invest in the overall guest experience, and our updated, enhanced entry gates will really elevate the process of arriving at our theme parks. The test entry gate installed at Disney California Adventure Park will enable our teams to get hands-on experience that will help inform the final install beginning later this year.”
Daps Magic team member Steven stopped by the Disneyland Resort on Monday and saw the new construction walls that had been erected overnight. It isn’t known how long these will be up or when the new entrance gates will be utilized once they come down. It would not be surprising if this is before Disneyland’s 70th Celebration begins in May, however.
When the project is completed later this year, all of the new entrance gates will be ADA-compliant. ECVs, wheelchairs, and strollers will be able to enter through any entry gate into the parks at the Disneyland Resort. These gates will be found at the main entrances of the two theme parks, hotels, monorail, and also Downtown Disney District.
