On this day in 1959, the largest-ever Candlelight Processional choir performed at Disneyland with 2,574 members. The event first began in 1955 and featured Dickens carolers and small guest choirs. Over the next four years, Candlelight became more formalized and was moved to Town Square. Bleachers were first constructed in 1959 at the Main Street Train Station to hold the enormous choir and provide an improved view for the many spectators. [65 years ago in 2024]
