There is a new Ice Age movie in the works at Disney. Over the weekend at D23 Brazil, it was announced that Ice Age 6 is being worked on. And even better, it appears that Ray Romano, Queen Latifah, and John Leguizamo will once again be lending their voices to the characters in the franchise.
A video that broke the news was shown at D23 Brazil (and then online). In it, Ray Romano is shown freezing in a blanket. He says, “Ray Romano here with some big news! Wow, it’s cold in here. Did the AC break or something?” Queen Latifah then shows up and calls Ray saying, “Hey Ray, ready to give the big announcement? I see you got my gift. I thought it would be fun,” as snow begins to fall on the soundstage. Romano then shares “Ice Age 6 is coming to theaters.” Leguizamo finishes the video saying, “The Herd is back, baby! I gotta call everybody I know.”
Here is the full video that was shown:
Ice Age 6 will see Romano returning to voice Manny the wooly mammoth. Leguizamo will again be the ground sloth Sid and Latifah will voice Ellie the wooly mammoth. Denis Leary and Simon Pegg will also be returning for this film. It is currently in production but a release date has not been announced.
This is the first film in the franchise to be released in theaters since Disney purchased 21st Century Fox. The last time an Ice Age film was released was in 2016. Named Collision Course, it garnered $409 million globally. There have been other films and series featuring the prehistoric animals also released through the years. This includes the spinoff The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild in 2022 and also Ice Age: Scrat Tales on Disney+.
