Disneyland and Northgate Markets Deliver Holiday Magic for Anaheim Families

Since 1955, the Disneyland Resort has been helping make dreams come true while also being involved with the Orange County community. In 1980, Miguel González Jiménez opened the first-ever Northgate Market in Anaheim. He converted a liquor store into a grocery store, and that was no easy task. However, Don Miguel and the rest of his family were no strangers to challenges. Eventually, one store turned into two, and the González family never looked back.

Now, the Disneyland Resort and Northgate González Market are teaming up to help spread some holiday joy and magic for families. A food distribution event for 125 families facing food insecurity was recently held at James Madison Elementary School in Anaheim.

“Many families continue to face tough times, especially during the holidays,” said Miguel Gonzalez, co-president of Northgate Market. “In the spirit of the season, we teamed up with Disneyland Resort to bring some relief to families in our community,” said Miguel Gonzalez, co-president of Northgate Market.

Additionally, the two companies donated $15,000 of holiday food vouchers to three nonprofits, including the Boys & Girls Club of Anaheim, Anaheim Family Indepedencia Center, and Chrysalis Anaheim.

“Nothing brings us more joy than spreading a little holiday magic to families in our community. Teaming up with Northgate González Market is a wonderful way to share the spirit of the season and create lasting memories for families right here in Anaheim!” said Cathi Killian, Vice President of Communications and Public Affairs at Disneyland Resort.

Founded in 1980, Northgate González Market is an authentic, family-owned and operated Hispanic supermarket chain with 44 stores in Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino, and San Diego counties. Headquartered in Anaheim, Calif., it maintains its cultural heritage by offering its customers the best quality and freshest foods and personalized service. Northgate Market’s commitment to its communities is furthered by the González Reynoso Familia Foundation, which provides scholarships and assists needy families.
