FubuTV’s Antitrust Trial Against Disney’s Venu Sports Joint Venture to Begin in October 2025

The antitrust trial that FubuTV has brought against Disney, Fox, and Warner Bros Discovery for their joint venture Venu has a starting date. A court filing this week revealed that the case will begin on October 6, 2025.

The joint sports venture, Venu Sports, in the meantime has been blocked by a federal judge. This came after FubuTV accused the trio of creating the venture that violated antitrust law. FubuTV says that the venture would lead to less competition and higher prices for consumers.

Last month, U.S. District Judge Margaret Garnett said that Venu’s media partners could  “exercise near-monopolistic control” over sports rights and prevent rivals from emerging.

Venu Sports originally was slated to launch this fall. It is being led by former Apple executive Pete Distad. The new streamer is aiming for 5 million subscribers in the first five years. The service is slated to be $42.99 per month with a seven-day free trial. Venu Sports is targeting younger sports fans who don’t tune into cable television.

The goal originally was for Venu Sports to launch on August 23rd. That date has come and gone as concerns about competition have continued to rise. The Justice Department is also looking into this to see how it might reduce competition and impact consumers.

At this point, it isn’t known if or when Venu Sports will launch.
