Villains Land Coming to Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort

At D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event this weekend there were plenty of announcements made to excite Disney fans. There were announcements about new nighttime spectaculars, new ships coming to the Disney Cruise Line, new attractions, and even new lands! One of the lands that was announced during Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase on Saturday night was a land that is dedicated to villains!

This new Villains Land will be build in Walt Disney World Resort’s Magic Kingdom. This new land looks terrifyingly awesome and when guests visit it, Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro teased that “happily ever after may feel like just a distant dream.” The moment was near the end of the presentation and even included the Magic Mirror. Below is a look at this announcement:

The new Villains Land at Magic Kingdom will be the home for villains that fans know, love, and perhaps loathe. While there weren’t many specifics, it was teased that the possibilities are endless for this land as the “evil ambition” of these villains come together. It promises to be a dark and thorny land… and perhaps a bit chaotic!

The land will feature two major attractions, dining, and also shopping.  “Be prepared, you poor unfortunate souls,” Josh quipped. “It’s going to be a fearless new vision for what a Disney experience can be.”

Work is already underway to prepare for the arrival of this new land at Magic Kingdom. It will be beyond Big Thunder Mountain next to the newly expanded Frontierland that will be seeing the arrival of some favorite characters from Disney-Pixar’s Cars. This will also be seeing the transformation of the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island into this new Cars-themed area of Frontierland. There will still be time to visit, however, before the shovels come to this area!

In the meantime, be sure to check out the full Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase that Daps Magic filmed for all the details that were announced. Daps Magic will also continue to be posting more updates from the weekend on our Daps Magic D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event page to make them easy to find!
