In Disneyland Paris, Le Pays des Contes de Fées is the name of the boat attraction that takes guests through Disney’s Storybook Land. Based on Disney’s Storybook Land Canal Boats at Disneyland. The Disneyland version of the attraction was an opening day attraction that guests could experience on July 17, 1955. Le Pays des Contes de Fées, literally translated as “The Land of Fairy Tales,” was an opening day attraction at Disneyland Paris in the spring of 1994. Through the years, the attraction has seen updates and modifications. Soon, a new update will be found and experienced by guests.
Disneyland Paris has announced that the attraction will be receiving a new scene based on Disney and Pixar’s Up. The new scene will have Carl and Russell landing near Paradise Falls. Kevin might happen to also be nearby. Concept art for this new Up scene was also shared by Disneyland Paris.
“What makes Le Pays des Contes de Fées so unique is that the attraction’s main character is its miniaturized storybook architecture. Carl’s flying house in ‘Up’ is an icon from this story, so strong that we felt it would be fitting as a finale to the attraction,” shares Keith Rector, Art Director at Walt Disney Imagineering Paris.
This new scene is just the most recent addition to Le Pays des Contes de Fées. It joins previously announced additions for the attraction that include Frozen and Winnie the Pooh. Disney Imagineers are working with Disneyland Paris teams to get the stage ready for the arrival of these new detailed and intricate story worlds.
Part of the transformation of this attraction also includes a new presenting sponsor. Vittel has extended its longstanding corporate alliance relationship with Disneyland Paris. For this attraction specifically, an updated marquee and new décor elements will be found in the queue. This will integrate the sponsor throughout the experience, and also celebrate the role that water has played as a “vital source of inspiration for magical adventures in Disney stories.”
