A statue of Big Al, the iconic character from the Country Bear Jamboree, has arrived at Disney California Adventure. The statue of the character has appeared at the newly reopened Disney Vacation Club stand in Grizzly Peak near Grizzly River Run. The area is now called the Grizzly Peak Recreation Area.
Daps Magic team member Steven stopped by Disney California Adventure to get photos and video of Big Al. Below is a look at the statue of this iconic bear in his new location at the Disneyland Resort.
Along with being fun to look at and take pictures at, Big Al also sings when activated by a MagicBand+. Definitely have your MagicBand+ charged to do this and then wave your hand around in front of him to get him to do one of the following moments:
Big Al has been appearing in different versions of the Country Bear Jamboree since 1971. Traditionally, he is known for his performance of Blood on the Saddle. This is in stark and humorous contrast to the performances of the other bears. Big Al is known for his scruffy brown fur, his vest, and his hat which gives him a rugged, country persona. He has a slow, deep voice and sings this song that brings a comedic, and slightly dark, flavor to the show.
While the Country Bear Jamboree is no longer at the Disneyland Resort, Big Al and some of the other Country Bears have been known to visit and meet with guests. They are generally found in the Grizzly Peak area of Disney California Adventure. The statue is nearby where the bears often meet with guests.
