At Tokyo Disneyland, it’s a small world is getting a limited-time enhancement. This enhancement sees Groot being added to the attraction. The overlay is set to come to Tokyo Disneyland in the winter of 2025 for an undetermined amount of time. What has been determined is that this will be a unique addition to the beloved attraction that is very different than the Disney characters that were added to the original version at Disneyland in 2008.
The attraction will see some favorite Marvel characters, including Groot, being recreated in the style of Mary Blair. An attraction poster that was released by Tokyo Disney Resort today shows quite the collection of Marvel characters on an it’s a small world boat. They include Groot, Peter Quill, Gamora, Rocket, Mantis, and Drax from Guardians of the Galaxy, along with other Marvel Cinematic Universe characters Thor, Captain America, Captain Marvel, Hulk, Black Panther, Ant-Man, The Wasp, Doctor Strange, Wong and Goose the Flerken.
Why Groot’s Going to it’s a small world
The addition of Groot and other characters from the MCU make it’s a small world with Groot the first attraction at the Tokyo Disney Resort to include Marvel characters. Tokyo Disney Resort shared why exactly Groot and company will be visiting this attraction. Here is the description: “Groot from the Guardians of the Galaxy film trilogy and his friends from Marvel Studios films are visiting Earth for vacation. Groot encounters his friends in various locations on Earth and experiences their regional cultures and music with them as well as with children from all over the world.”
The version of it’s a small world at Tokyo Disneyland also has various characters from Walt Disney Animation Studios films. They will continue to be found throughout the attraction as guests float by the different cultures of the world.
More Marvel at Tokyo Disney Resort
This isn’t the only Marvel presence that is coming to Tokyo Disney Resort. Starting on September 20, 2024, some Marvel characters will also be appearing on the face of Cinderella Castle in a new nighttime spectacular. This show will utilize projection mapping, lighting effects, pyrotechnics, and other special effects to bring some favorite Disney stories to life. It will include Disney, Pixar, and Marvel characters, making this the first time that Marvel characters will appear at Tokyo Disney Resort.
