The first year of Oogie Boogie Bash at Disney California Adventure included a new version of World of Color. Called World of Color: Villainous!, this show followed the story of a young girl named Shelley Marie as she encounters multiple Disney villains. This version of World of Color only was presented in 2019. In 2020 there was no Oogie Boogie Bash due to the pandemic. When the popular Halloween party returned to Disney California Adventure, World of Color: Villainous! was not offered once again.
As can be seen in the video below, Shelley Marie has encounters with The Queen, Ursula, Dr. Facilier, Hades, Jafar, Maleficent and more after the show is introduced by Oogie Boogie himself. She’s “nine years old. She’s terribly clever and disturbing.” She also loves Halloween and is looking forward to trick or treating. Watch below to see how this show played out.
While this was a cute show, it didn’t gain the traction that other nighttime spectaculars have with Disney fans. This is understandably difficult when Halloween Screams! is being presented just across the esplanade nightly during Halloween Time.
