On Thursday August 31, 2023, the skies above Disneyland came to life as Wondrous Journeys celebrates 100 years of Disney animation and storytelling for the last time this summer. Fans began link me up to see the fireworks spectacular in the late afternoon in hopes of getting a great spot.
Wondrous Journeys debuted at Disneyland on July 27, 2023 as part of the 100th anniversary celebration of The Walt Disney Company, called Disney100. It became an instant hit as fans found the music catchy, the projections engaging, and Blue Fairy and Baymax flying over Sleeping Beauty Castle absolutely magical. After seven months, however, this new favorite has come to the end of its run to make way for Halloween Time and it’s Halloween Screams fireworks show. The Daps Magic team was on hand for the final performance of Wondrous Journeys and it’s final showing can be seen here:
At this point it isn’t known when Wondrous Journeys will be making a return to the skies over Disneyland. When it does, guests will definitely be happy about it. As the show wrapped up on Thursday night, the crowd gave a hearty and heartfelt cheer.
The ending of Wondrous Journeys seems to mark the end of the major part of the Disney100 celebration at the Disneyland Resort. While World of Color – One is still being shown at Disney California Adventure. Most decorations, however, have come down in favor of seasonal decor.
