Plaza de la Familia at Disneyland Resort Celebrates Everlasting Love and Familial Bonds

Plaza de la Familia at Disney California Adventure continues through November 2, 2023. During this special time, there are plenty of ways to commemorate everlasting love and familial bonds with culturally rich experiences inspired by the Mexican traditions of Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead. Recently, Mr. Daps stopped by Disney California Adventure to talk with Disneyland Resort spokesperson Esteban about Plaza de la Familia at the Disneyland Resort. Plaza de la Familia Entertainment

  • A Musical Celebration of Coco – a musical telling of Coco with the songs from the Pixar animated film.
  • The Mariachi Divas and Mariachi Espectacular at the Paradise Garden Bandstand

Plaza de la Familia Family Crafts and Photo Opportunities

  • “Árbol de la Vida” (Tree of Life) – beautiful for family photos. Its branches sprout flowers, animals and evocative “calacas” (skeletons) interconnected by the theme of family.  
  • Memory Wall – guests can leave remembrances to honor loved ones who have been and will forever be a part of their lives.
  • Design Paper “Alebrije” Crafts – create paper masks of Pepita or Dante.
  • Meet Miguel – meet miguel after he appears in A Musical Celebration of Coco.
  • Miguel’s Memory Box – a beautiful display behind the location where guests meet Miguel.

Plaza de la Familia Foods at Paradise Garden Grill

  • Chile Verde Chicken Flautas (new)topped with avocado spread, shredded lettuce, crema, queso fresco, tomatillo salsa and pickled onions, served with Spanish rice and pinto beans. 
  • Carnitas Burrito: House-made pork carnitas, Spanish rice, pinto beans and salsa verde, served with house-made tortilla chips. 
  • Chorizo Quesadilla (plant-based): Poblano, onions and mozzarella, topped with cilantro crema and served with salsa roja and escabèche. 
  • Vanilla Layer Cake: Layers of vanilla cake with cinnamon mousse and sweet cream cheese frosting.
