Disneyland Resort Refurbishment Report

Disneyland Resort Refurbishment Report – September 20, 2023

Welcome to the Refurbishment Report. Many times throughout the year there are small and even major refurbishments happening around the Disneyland Resort. From ride closures to building updates, the Disneyland Resort Theme Parks, Hotels, and Downtown Disney are constantly getting refreshed. To make this report possible, Daps Magic Team Member Steven has gladly taken photos of projects happening around the Disneyland Resort.

To start off this report, we head to Mickey’s Toontown. Toontown reopened in late January as it debuted Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway. In March, the full land reopened to rave reviews. Weeks later, some of the land was placed behind walls to fix some small issues that happened after the land reopened. Walls went up in several locations throughout the land and those issues were resolved. However, walls went up around the Mickey and Minnie Fountain and Centoonial Park recently. This work should be completed by October 23.

Let’s now take a leisurely walk from Mickey’s Toontown to Frontierland. The Golden Horseshoe is currently closed for a spell, and will reopen October 1. However, you can still visit Stage Door Café for some yummy food and snacks.

Now it’s time to walk along the Rivers of America. The Mark Twain Riverboat is currently docked in Fowler’s Harbor for the next several months. As of this writing, the water in Fowler’s Harbor had not been drained. There are, however, scrims next to the Mark Twain Riverboat that block some of its view. The somewhat secret pathway along the River is closed as part of this refurbishment. The tables and chairs that were in that area has been moved to along the Rivers of America walkway just like they were during the Park’s reopening in 2021. So you can still get a nice view of the River while enjoying a snack or some other delicious food.

We next make our way towards Adventureland to check out what’s happening with the Adventureland Treehouse. We recently learned that the Treehouse will reopen in the Fall. Every new detail that has been reveal is definitely adding to the excitement of having the Treehouse open once again. This time, a water wheel can be seen from just behind the walls.

After a quick stop in Adventureland, we head across Disneyland and head to Tomorrowland. Space Mountain is now closed for an extended refurbishment. It is scheduled to reopen Friday, October 27. As a result, Tomorrowland seemed very quiet with no guests rushing to Space Mountain. Closed for Refurbishment signs are placed around the attraction. Walls can be found towards the back of the entrance as there is still room for guests to access the covered dining area of Alien Pizza Planet. Walls are also placed at the attraction exit. The store and the restrooms in this area are still open for your convenience.

Over at Disney California Adventure, Schmoozies and the Golden Zephyr are undergoing refurbishments. Schmoozies is scheduled to reopen September 25, while there is currently no reopening date for Golden Zephyr.

Thank you for following along on a walk through the Parks for this Refurbishment Report. Stay “tooned” for more updates because one thing is for sure – change is constant at the Disneyland Resort.
