Disney and Amazon Reportedly in Talks About ESPN Partnership

Amazon and Disney are reportedly in early talks to work on the streaming version of ESPN that is in development. This could also involve Amazon taking a minority stake in the streaming service. The news is being reported by The Information, citing sources that are close the matter.

Currently Disney and ESPN are working on a price for this new streaming service. ESPN is considering pricing the new streaming service at $20 and $35 a month. If this were to happen, it would make the ESPN streaming service the most expensive streamer in the United States, The Information noted.

Neither Amazon.com, Disney, or ESPN released any comments on this report.

Last month, Disney CEO Bob Iger shared that Disney wants to keep ESPN in the company’s fold. He did note, however, that Disney was looking for strategic partners to either form a joint venture or to buy a stake in ESPN as they work to take it directly to consumers.

At this point, nothing has been made public regarding any potential deal between Amazon and Disney. If it were to happen, there would undoubtably be at the very least a statement released from The Walt Disney Company. It would also be unsurprising if there were also interviews with Disney CEO Bob Iger and potentially ESPN chief Jimmy Pitaro about any deal.

Daps Magic will continue to follow this story and provide updates as they become available. What do you think about a potential partnership between Amazon and Disney for an ESPN streaming service? Would it be a good idea? Share your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!
