More Walls and a Photo Op Go Up As More of Splash Mountain Comes Down at Disneyland

On Tuesday guests took their last splash on Splash Mountain before the attraction began its transformation into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. By Wednesday, walls had begun to go up around the attraction and spiels had been updated on the Disneyland Railroad and Mark Twain. Now on Friday, walls have completely surrounded the former Splash Mountain and work has begun on bringing Princess Tiana to the attraction.

Along with the walls comes a photo opportunity with Louis on one of the walls. This gives guests a chance to look like they are part of a jazz band and parade with Louis. A sign next to the photo op says, “LOUIS IS ON HIS WAY TO THE PARTY!” A photo of the photo op shows how to pose for this photo op. Underneath it says, “Join the parade by posing in front of the umbrella or an instrument for a photo!” On Friday morning, guests could be seen doing just that.

Other changes to the area show that Imagineers are hard at work on this transformation. The signage for the former Splash Mountain that could be seen on Monday is now gone. Hammering and other construction work could be heard by guests walking around the attraction as well. The flume also no longer held any water, which was still there on Monday. Below is a look at the walls, the photo op, and the attraction as it starts its transformation as of June 2, 2023.

The transformation to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will include music, new audio-animatronics, and even new animated sequences created by Walt Disney Animation Studios. The music for the attraction will be created through a collaboration between Walt Disney Imagineering and also award-winning artists PJ Morton and Terence Blanchard. Both musicians are natives of New Orleans. There will be a new original song composed by PJ Morton along with new versions of music from The Princess and the Frog. For more information, check out this post that went up yesterday about the most recent updates for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. The attraction will be opening at Disneyland in 2024.
