Downtown Disney continues its multi-year transformation with construction in the Westside area where the former AMC Theatres were located. In recent weeks, we have seen the transformation of Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen, as well as construction at the former Uva Bar and Catal Restaurant.
Jazz Kitchen Coastal Grill & Patio and Beignets Expressed
Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen has recently evolved into the new Jazz Kitchen Coastal Grill & Patio, while the former quick service location has transformed into Beignets Expressed. Jazz Kitchen Coastal Grill & Patio is a modern, casual, and fun celebration of the Gulf and Pacific Coasts that features a fresh look and a new menu. The restaurant’s menu features long-time fan favorites alongside new selections such as Lobster & Crawfish Sliders, Chile-Spiced Honey Glazed Grilled Salmon, Gumbo LA-LA filled with succulent seafood, the Grilled Open Faced Lobster BLT Po-Boy and the Reef & Beef, a delectable entrée of grilled shrimp and braised short ribs. This contemporary menu pairs perfectly with a newly expanded wine list from California vintners, and seasonal, seaside-style cocktails.
And let’s not forget about the new Beignets Expressed. It is now a fast, friendly, and fun counter-service spot, that bestows the much-loved New Orleans confection served classically (fried and topped with heaping mounds of powdered sugar) and the specialty glazed beignets, dipped, drizzled, and sprinkled in infinitely delicious flavors. Signature and seasonal glazed selections include Snickerdoodle, Fruity Crunch, and Bananas Foster.
Clyde’s Hot Chicken
Those looking to spice things up a bit should check out Clyde’s Hot Chicken. This new cart is located near the Downtown Disney Monorail Station that serves scrumptious Nashville hot chicken on a stick, handmade fresh daily, and available in three different heat level seasonings. If you really want to turn it up a notch, try the Hot as Cali with cayenne and habanero spices! Clyde’s Hot Chicken has several locations throughout the Orange County area, including Fullerton, Santa Ana, and Placentia, so you may have seen them around.
The Alley
In addition to new eats and experiences in Downtown Disney, the courtyard next to Splitsville is being transformed into an exciting space. The Alley will have interactive games, live music, lounge areas, and seats for dining. You’ll be able to relax, play games, create fun memories in this new area, and enjoy food and drinks from Splitsville.
Of course, let’s not forget about all the shopping you can do while at Downtown Disney. From World of Disney for all of your favorite Disney souvenirs to WonderGround Gallery for art from your favorite Disney artist to Lovepop for some fun and cool 3D pop-up cards, and even Pele Soccer for the latest in soccer gear and apparel, there is something for everyone at Downtown Disney.
The reimagining of Downtown Disney with new dining, shopping, and entertainment experiences continues. As we heard at the 2022 D23 Expo, we know that Din Tai Fung, a world-renowned Chinese restaurant known for its soup dumplings and noodles, as well as Porto’s Bakery and Café, known for its yummy Cuban cheese rolls and pastries will be coming to Downtown Disney soon. Plus two new locations, Paseo and Céntrico, featuring masterful Mexican cuisine by Michellin-starred Chef Carlos Gaytán will also make their Downtown Disney debut soon.
Stay tuned to Daps Magic for more information on the transformation of Downtown Disney.
