Soarin’ Over California Returns to Disney California Adventure for Food & Wine Festival

The fan favorite Soarin’ Over California has returned to Disney California Adventure. The original version of the attraction will be offered throughout the duration of the Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival. This begins today and runs through April 25, 2023. This version of the attraction originally debuted on February 8, 2001 with the opening of the second park at the Disneyland Resort.

The attraction is a flight motion simulator that lifts guests up on a lift system right up to an 80 foot concave 180-degree dome screen where guests experience many iconic locations in California. During the flight, guests not only see California locations, they also smell and feel them through different effects that pipe smells and wind into the attraction. The first run of the attraction continued at Disney California Adventure until June 16, 2016. It reopened the following day as Soarin’ Around the World.

In recent years, the original version of the attraction has been offered throughout the run of Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival. This has become an annual tradition that fans have come to love. Below is a video of the attraction.

Soarin’ has been replicated around the globe and now can be experienced as Soarin’ Around the World at EPCOT, Shanghai Disneyland as Soarin’ Over the Horizon, and Tokyo Disneyland as Soaring: Fantastic Flight. Soarin’ Around the World is what is offered for most of the year at Disney California Adventure. This takes guests on a flight to see some of the most iconic locations around the world.
