Walt Disney World Resort President releases Statement in Response to Florida’s Reedy Creek Improvement District Bill Proposal

Earlier today the Florida State Legislature filed a bill proposal that showed what it has planned for the Reedy Creek Improvement District. The plan would have the Governor appoint five board members to the district, which would also have a new name. Within hours of the bill being filed, the President of Walt Disney World Resort, Jeff Vahle released a statement.

The full statement reads as follows:

We are monitoring the progression of the draft legislation, which is complex given the long history of the Reedy Creek Improvement District. Disney works under a number of different models and jurisdictions around the world, and regardless of the outcome, we remain committed to providing the highest quality experience for the millions of guests who visit each year.

Jeff Vahle, President, Walt Disney World Resort

The full impact of this legislation continues to be realized as more journalists, lawyers, and other interested parties continue to read through the 189 page proposal. The full proposal can be read here. Daps Magic will continue to monitor this story and provide updates as they become available.

  1. Where, specifically, can I read the much discussed public filing where Reedy Creek transferred responsiblities before the Board took over? (Love it!)
