Day Seventeen: Avengers Campus – 24 Days of Thanksgiving

Avengers Campus officially opened on June 4, 2021. However, in many ways, the narrative for it goes back much further. As I’m thinking about how I’m thankful for Avengers Campus today, I go back to May 2017 and the opening media event for Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! On this night, Murry and I were at Disney California Adventure experiencing the attraction for the first time, along with getting some amazing food and photos as well. Oh, and did I mention there were also fireworks and some Marvel celebrities? This night began the road towards the eventual opening of Avengers Campus and so many happy moments and memories that have been made thanks to the stories that Marvel Studios have brought to life on the big screen, small screen, and now in the Disney theme parks.

Fast forward to a very early morning in June 2021. Thousands of guests were descending on the Disneyland Resort to experience the opening day of Avengers Campus. The day was absolutely insane, packed, and a whole lot of fun! Avengers Campus came to life that day. Spider-Man flew through the sky! the Dora Milaje taught the ways of Wakanda, Doctor Strange brought the Sanctum to life, and so much more! The land came to life and so did our imaginations! The best part? We got to do this with a bunch of Disney friends! It really was special. Oh, and don’t forget there were two attractions to experience in the land along with some fun foods to try!

Over the last year and a half, we have gotten to experience new characters that have stories being told currently on the big screen or Disney+ appearing at Avengers Campus. It’s been awesome. We have experienced new shows or variations of shows. We have seen characters change as their stories have changed. And we have gotten to enjoy seeing the different Marvel characters inhabit Avengers Campus during the day and at night. Did I mention how beautiful this land becomes at night by the way? It’s gorgeous!

As I think about the things I am thankful for when it comes to Avengers Campus, there is a very long list of things that could make for a VERY long post. However, at the end of the day what makes this land so special really is the people. This starts with the Marvel storytellers and then the people from Marvel and Disney who brought this land from an idea to a reality. Then we move to the people who bring Avengers Campus to life every day. This doesn’t just include the Super Heroes that wear awesome costumes. It also includes the people that prepare the food, run the stores, clean the land, host the heroes, and all the others who help make this a fun and safe place for guests to visit. Finally, I’m also thankful for the amazing people who visit Avengers Campus. Disney is always more fun when experienced with those you care about. I love walking into the land with my friends and family. I also love walking into the land and bumping into friends. It really is a great place for that.

I really enjoy visiting Avengers Campus and am so thankful that the Disneyland Resort continues to grow, evolve, and yes… even change. I know the changes can be hard but as I look around while walking through the Disneyland Resort, I do find myself marveling at how many more awesome experiences have been added since I first got my Annual Pass back in the day.
