Day Seven: The Muppets – 24 Days of Thanksgiving

We are one week into 24 Days of Thanksgiving! It seems like November is flying by! We hope you are enjoying this series of Thanksgiving and we encourage you to join in the fun and add what you are thankful for in the comments each day as well! Today I’m going for a very obvious thing to be thankful for, at least to anyone who knows me. I am very thankful for The Muppets.

My love of The Muppets goes back pretty far. As a child, I can remember being a regular watcher of Sesame Street. I would see Kermit the Frog as a newscaster, Ernie singing about his rubber ducky, and Big Bird talking to Mr. Snuffleupagus. Oh, did I mention Oscar the Grouch singing about his love of trash? There were also Muppet Babies on, which was always fun. Later came The Muppet Show, Muppets Tonight, and eventually MuppetVision3D would make its way into the parks. That’s not even mentioning all the wonderful movies they made. Sporadically, different members of The Muppets would show up as guests on random programs as well.

There are many things to be thankful for when it comes to The Muppets. There are the characters, the music, the comedy, the design, the puppetry, and the stories. I think the thing I’m most thankful for is who they are. They are a wide range of characters that are all very different and come together to make beautiful things. They have their ups and their downs but through it all, they always come back together to support and love each other to reach a common goal. Yes, they can definitely have some snarky jokes and comments made about each other along the way. However, at the end of the day, it is always about coming together, just like Kermit sings in the Rainbow Connection.

There are so many life lessons to be learned from The Muppets. A main one though comes from Kermit in The Muppet Movie in 1979.

Well, I have a dream too, but it’s about singing and dancing and making people happy. It’s the kind of dream that gets better the more people you share it with. And I found a whole group of friends who have the same dream, and that kind of makes us like a family. You have anybody like that, Hopper? I mean, once you get all those restaurants, who’re you gonna share it with? Who are your friends, Doc? Those guys?

Kermit the Frog

I love how Kermit inspires us to make people happy. It’s something I think about each week as we are prepping for GEEKS CORNER and other content we put out for our friends. I’m thankful for the example that Kermit the Frog has given and continues to give through the years. I also am thankful that we continue to get more content from The Muppets.

What are you thankful for today? Are you thankful for The Muppets as well? Share what you are thankful for in the comments below and be a part of our 24 Days of Thanksgiving!
