Disney Animation: Immersive Experience Offers a Whole New Look at Walt Disney Animation Studios

A new type of interactive experience celebrating Disney animation is coming to select cities across North America. Presented by Lighthouse Immersive Studios, Disney Animation: Immersive Experience was announced earlier this week. It is an interactive and experiential look at Disney animation. It will debut in Toronto in mid-December before arriving in ten cities across the United States in 2023. It is expected that following the initial 10 cities arrival, the exhibit will come to 10 more cities later in 2023. This will be followed by international and touring version of the exhibit.

“I’m just having this complete pinch-me moment, Being able to tell a story over almost 100 years of Disney (intellectual property),” David Korins, Lighthouse’s creative director said. “Any one of these (films) could have an immersive experience by themselves, but the idea (is) that we’re going to be able to pull all these experiences into one and down a rabbit hole. You really get to see the hand of the animators. We’re going to celebrate the work of the animators from all time periods. We’re literally going from script to screen.”

This experience will also feature the music from these films. “Having that body of work to deal with gave us such a broad canvas to work with,” producer J. Miles Dale said. “We wanted to showcase the performance of those artists who created the work. This will be an unprecedented behind-the-scenes look at how the work was created. I feel like honoring those animators is a big thing to do.”

The experience will involve guests wearing wristbands when they enter. These will be very similar to the MagicBand’s used at Walt Disney World Resort. These will be used to trigger various interactive experiences. During their visit, they will get to see up to three quarters of the Disney animated films come to life as they go from room to room and interact with the exhibits.

The primary experience will last 47 minutes and be book ended by interactive exhibits and other offerings that will give a look at Disney’s animators and the process of creating their films. The entire experience should last between 60 and 90 minutes long.

The following description was shared on it’s website:

Good morning, I signed up last week to get early access for Disney immersive in Toronto as I want to get tickets for my granddaughter for Christmas so I need to know how to get access to tickets as it says in need a key code?

    1. Hi Terry! We don’t have access to any of this as we cover Disney news and are not affiliated with The Walt Disney Company. I would see if you can reach out to them via their website! Best wishes! – Mr. Daps
