Live Action Lilo & Stitch Finds Director

Disney continues to re-imagine many of its classic animated flicks into live-action films. Lilo & Stitch is one of these animated movies that is being remade into a live-action movie for Disney+. According to the Hollywood Reporter, this movie has found its director.

Dean Fleischer Camp will be the director of this film. The film that was originally announced in 2018 will continue to move forward in development. Mike Van Waes was originally writing the screenplay. Currently, Chris Kekaniokalani Bright is in negotiations to write the screenplay. Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich of Rideback producing. Rideback’s Ryan Halprin is executive producing.

The remake of Lilo & Stitch will be a live-action/CG hybrid. It will again tell the story of a young girl named Lilo who lives in Hawaii and the bond she forms with an alien named Stitch, who was created for destruction. Together, they discover what family means.

Dean Fleischer Camp is no stranger to the live-action/CG hybrid form of movie-making. He is behind the film named Marcel, which is about a snail going on an adventure into the human world that uses the medium. It currently has a 99 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes. Bright is no stranger to Hawaii and hails from the state.
