First Look Shared at Season Three Characters of ‘Star Trek: Picard’ at San Diego Comic-Con

During a Star Trek panel at San Diego Comic-Con, a first look was given at the characters for season three of Star Trek: Picard. The Hall-H panel gave a glimpse at who is returning for the third season and also shared a teaser. The third season will be arriving on Paramount+ in 2023.

The panel was hosted by Lea Thompson, who happened to direct two episodes of Picard in the second season. She was joined by executive producers Alex Kurtzman and Rod Roddenberry. Gates McFadden (Dr. Beverly Crusher) and Sir Patrick Stewart (Admiral Picard) joined the panel as well.

During the course of the panel, it was revealed and confirmed that much of the original crew of the Enterprise D will be returning for this upcoming season. This includes McFadden, Jonathan Frakes, LeVar Burton, Michael Dorn, and Marina Sirtis. Kurtzman also teased Brent Spiner’s return saying “Brent Spiner is also going to be there and is going to be an old new character.” This will be happening in the last episodes.

Along with a tease for Star Trek: Picard Season 3, character posters were also revealed. Check them all out below.

The crew of the Enterprise D won’t be immediately back together in season three it was revealed. The reunion has to be earned. “At the beginning of the season, the crew is in different places around the galaxy and slowly we see them come together,” Kurtzman explained.

A little was learned about the season’s villain too. For one, the villain is female. This villain was inspired by Kirk and Khan going tête-à-tête in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Kahn. “That was a real North Star for us this season, with the villain,” Kurtzman said. “I won’t say too much other than to say that she is amazing.”

Near the end of the panel, Patrick Stewart was asked if he’ll sit in the captain’s chair on the bridge of the Enterprise again. “The captain’s chair, the identical chair on the identical ship? I don’t think I do,” Stewart said. “There’s more than one Enterprise, and that makes it a little complicated. But we do return to the original Enterprise for awhile.”
