During the EPCOT International Festival of the Arts, there are many different types of arts to experience. There are visual arts, more traditional arts, culinary arts, and also the performing arts. One of the ways the performing arts are showcased at the Festival comes through the Disney on Broadway series.
Disney on Broadway brings the songs of Disney Broadway musicals to EPCOT at the America Gardens Theatre. Recently on a trip to Walt Disney World Resort, the DAPS MAGIC team was able to experience several of these performances with Heidi Blickenstaff (Freaky Friday, The Little Mermaid) and Robert Creighton (Frozen) on one night and Kara Lindsay (Newsies) and Dan DeLuca (Newsies) on another. The performances run three times a night and are under a half-hour long. There are dining packages available for those who want to reserve a seat.
The concerts are different depending on who is performing. Most of the songs are pulled from shows the performers were a part of. For example, the night that Kara Lindsay and Dan DeLuca performed there were multiple songs from Newsies, which they both had roles in. Kara Lindsay originated the role of Katherine Plumber and can be seen on the version that is streaming on Disney+. Dan DeLuca played the role of Jack on the touring version of the show.
Because of the weather being cooler, seats were available right before the show began. This added an extra element of magic! The duo sang several songs from Newsies along with music from Tarzan and Aida. The whole performance was energetic, charming, and happy!
Disney on Broadway at the EPCOT International Festival of the Arts is a wonderful offering that fans of Disney Broadway musicals will love. It also is a great way to introduce Disney on Broadway to new fans. These performances are offered throughout the EPCOT International Festival of the Arts nightly. There are different performers on different nights so check the schedule to see who is performing on any given night. Dining packages also are available.
The EPCOT International Festival of the Arts and Disney on Broadway runs through February 21, 2022.
