Anthony Mackie Signs on for Captain America 4

Things continue to progress towards the arrival of Captain America 4. After the popularity and success of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, head writer and creator Malcolm Spellman and series staff writer Dalan Musson have been working on the next Captain America movie. Deadline has now shared that Anthony Mackie is also on board for this movie.

Mackie has appeared in other movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe but he will now be the lead in the next Captain America film as he picks up the shield that was passed to him by Chris Evans. It is unknown if Sebastian Stan, who stared with him in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, will be joining him in this movie. It also isn’t known if any other actors from the Disney+ series will be appearing.

Mackie is a Julliard trained actor who has appeared in many movies inside and out of the MCU. In the MCU alone, he has appeared as Falcon in six films and then became the next Captain America. There are very few details known about this film beyond him being in it and who is writing it.

A release date for this film currently isn’t known. There also isn’t a director attached to the project. In fact, this project hasn’t even been officially announced by Marvel Studios yet. At this point, it isn’t expected that it could arrive in theaters anytime before 2023.
